Indicative Furnace
Indicative Fire Resistance Test Furnace
Compact furnace solution for development, research and preliminary fire resistance testing.
Development & Preliminary Testing
Compact, Flexible Fire Testing
- Product development
- Preliminary fire testing
- Joint systems
- Penetration seals
- Small construction assemblies
- Research programmes
Typical Configuration
- Internal dimensions approx. 1.5 × 1.5 × 1.5 m
- Vertical or horizontal specimen configurations
- Fully automatic control with manual override, the same control philosophy as the full-scale furnaces
- Temperature and pressure measurement; controlled extraction
- Data acquisition and test documentation
Why Indicative
De-risk Certification Before Booking the Accredited Laboratory
Before committing to a full-scale official test at an accredited laboratory, manufacturers can validate expected performance with indicative tests, at a fraction of the cost and lead time.
- Development furnace for iterating on product design before certification runs
- Lower risk: catch failures early, before they cost a full-scale test slot
- Mostly used for research and development of vertical and horizontal test specimens
Professional Measurement Principles
The indicative furnace can use the same fundamental measurement approach as larger installations, adapted to its size and intended test programme.
Temperature
Furnace and specimen measurement channels.
Pressure
Controlled pressure measurement and extraction.
Documentation
Test data can be organized with DataBrain for observations, timeline and report preparation.
Performance
- Fully automatic control with manual override
- Temperature and pressure measurement; controlled extraction
- Curve library shared with the full-scale furnaces; curves and maximum temperature specified per project
Refractory and Steel
- Pre-cast, pre-cured refractory concrete blocks: long service life, rapid repair without full relining
- Side walls in JM 23 / JM 28 insulating brick, backed by Ca-Si plates; roof and floor in low-thermal-mass, high-temperature concrete
- Fabrication to EN ISO 3834-2; all structural welds 100 % NDT tested; sandblasted and primer-coated
- Engineered thermal expansion margins prevent deformation during heating
- Minimized heat loss, so energy consumption per test and NOx emissions are lower
